Lisa + Nick | Longstock

There's something about home weddings that creates a personal and intimate atmosphere that I feel lends itself perfectly to my natural and unobtrusive style of wedding videography. The relaxed atmosphere allows me to document the day in the unstaged way I prefer, and Lisa and Nick's day was no exception, in fact it was rather exceptional! After a chat with Lisa before the wedding it was clear that one of the key things that drew the couple to my work was how I like to focus on creating a sense of place in my films, of building up a picture of the surrounding area, so I made sure to spend some time during the day taking shots of the stunning location.I'm a fan of buildings and places filled with history and stories, so I knew I had to take some footage of the old eel traps and fishing huts on the nearby River Test (which was also visibile from the beautiful family home) and decided this would make a lovely element of their film. However, it was impossible not to open the film with just a snippet of their talented friends singing in the church, which had everyone enthralled. After a lovely blessing at the picturesque village church, the wedding party headed back to Nick's family home, which was a perfect setting for their afternoon, surrounded by some beautifully curated gardens and scenery.I love for the couple to tell their own story in my work, either through the readings they have chosen for the service, or through the toasts given during the wedding breakfast and Lisa's father and Groom Nick did not disspoaint, providing some truly hearftfelt words which help to drive the narrative of their film. The day ended with the couples well rehearsed first dance, followed by music and dancing (with entertainment supplied by a great London band: Soul Supreme.)Lisa and Nick's day was full of stand out moments, but I'm always looking for the shot I feel really sums up the day, and the couples confetti walk outside the church gave me that shot- the couple looking blissfully happy surrounded by friends and family, so it's no wonder that I open and close the film with this moment! SUPPLIERSVideography: Handcraft PicturesPhotography: Andrew BrannanMake Up: Katy JaneFlowers: Jane ReidyBand: Soul Supreme
