I wasn’t aware of Laura and Dom’s chosen wedding venue before they contacted me, despite it being little over an hour from me, but when I had a chance to visit I was blown away by what a pretty place it was. Sitting amongst the Elmley Nature Reserve on the Isle of Sheepey, the views from the barn were stunning. The couple were also able to stay at the venue the night before in some real cool cabins.
Laura and Dom both got ready onsite, Laura and her bridesmaid in the cottage and Dom in one of the cabins, allowing me to take some footage of them both in the morning.
The large window of the barn provided some great light during the ceremony. Though the weather on the day was a bit wet, the couple and guests still had a chance to have a drinks and canapés in the outside barn before sitting down for the wedding breakfast. The barn had been dressed by Laura’s friend and looked stunning and very tasteful.
The speeches were very emotional, especially Laura’s mother’s and I decided to open the film with that heartfelt moment. Dom also referenced the fact him and Laura were expecting their first child, and I knew right away I should use the shot I captured of him holding Laura’s stomach earlier in the day during this part of his speech.
The weather may have been a bit grey during the day, but the guests came alive during the evening, taking straight to the dance floor when the DJ started playing, giving me some great footage to end their film with.
I hope to work at Elmley Nature Reserve again as it really is little gem!
